HomeSentry is a home maintenance app for iPhone. This policy explains what happens to the information you put in it.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you enter, including your homes, equipment, maintenance tasks, service history, expenses, home inventory, saved service providers, photos and documents, is stored only on your iPhone, inside HomeSentry. HomeSentry has no user accounts and no servers of its own, and doesn't upload your data anywhere. Your data is included in your iPhone's own iCloud or computer backup, depending on your iPhone settings. If you add an email address or name to your profile, it is also stored only on your iPhone.
What is sent to others, and when
AI features: only if you allow them. HomeSentry's AI Assistant and "Scan the label with AI" use Claude, an AI service provided by Anthropic. The app asks your permission before the first time anything is sent. When you use these features, your question, the relevant home details (homes, equipment, tasks, service history, expenses and inventory) and any photo you attach are sent to Anthropic to create the answer. Anthropic processes this data under its commercial terms and privacy policy; it isn't used for advertising. You can turn AI off at any time in Settings → AI Features. With AI off, nothing is sent and the Assistant gives offline answers.
- Google Maps: when you tap a "near me" search, the search words (for example "plumber near me") open in Google Maps, which works under Google's own privacy policy.
- Calls, texts and email to service providers open your iPhone's Phone, Messages and Mail apps.
- Sharing: PDFs, QR labels and backups are shared only where you choose to send them.
Permissions
- Camera and Photos: only to add photos of your equipment, repairs, documents and belongings, when you choose to.
- Face ID: only to unlock the app if you turn that on. Face ID data never leaves your iPhone and HomeSentry never sees it.
- Notifications: maintenance reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. HomeSentry doesn't use push notification servers.
What HomeSentry does not do
No advertising. No tracking across apps or websites. No analytics. No selling or sharing of your data. No location access.
Children
HomeSentry is intended for adults managing a home and isn't directed at children under 13.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings → Delete All Data to remove everything from your iPhone, including photos and documents. Deleting the app does the same. To stop sending data to Anthropic, turn off Settings → AI Features.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
